Understanding Flat-Rolled Classifications
In the metals industry, flat-rolled products are classified primarily by their thickness. Here is how we categorize and supply our nickel alloy inventory:
Heavy Plate (Thickness ≥ 4.8mm)
Hot Rolled & Descaled: Defined as flat-rolled metal with a thickness of 3/16" (4.8mm) and greater. Used for heavy structural fabrications, massive chemical storage tanks, heat exchanger tube sheets, and robust offshore marine platforms.
Sheet (Thickness < 4.8mm)
Cold Rolled & Annealed: Thinner than 3/16", sheet metal offers excellent formability and a smooth surface finish. Essential for fabricating aerospace exhaust liners, expansion joint bellows, and precision stamped components.
Coil & Strip
Continuous Lengths: Extremely thin gauges of sheet metal wound into coils. We offer precision slitting services to narrow widths. Ideal for continuous stamping, forming spiral-welded tubing, and manufacturing industrial springs.
