Blind Flanges

Nickel Alloy Blind Flanges

When you need to securely terminate a piping system, blank off a pressure vessel, or isolate a line for critical maintenance, Blind Flanges (BLRF / BLRTJ) are the ultimate safeguard. 28Nickel manufactures premium forged nickel alloy blind flanges engineered to withstand the most extreme internal pressures and highly corrosive stagnant media in chemical processing, offshore marine, and oil & gas environments.

Available Alloy Grades for Blind Flanges

Because blind flanges lack a center bore, they absorb the highest bending stress of any flange type. Furthermore, dead-end lines often accumulate stagnant, corrosive fluids. Selecting a high-strength, pitting-resistant superalloy—such as Hastelloy C-276 or Inconel 718—is critical to preventing catastrophic failure.

Engineering Features & Variations

Beyond standard solid blanking flanges, we provide specialized blind configurations tailored for pipeline testing, instrumentation, and routine maintenance.

🛑

Standard Blind Flanges

Solid forged disks used to seal the ends of piping systems or pressure vessel openings. They are bolted against a mating flange (typically a weld neck or slip-on) to create a highly secure, pressure-tight seal.

Spectacle Blinds (Figure-8)

A specialized safety device featuring a solid plate (to blind the line) and a ring plate (to allow flow) connected by a web. Used in systems requiring frequent, absolute isolation for maintenance.

Tapped Blind Flanges

Standard blind flanges that have been precision CNC-machined with a threaded center hole (NPT). These are essential for installing pressure gauges, bleed valves, or drainage lines at the end of a pipe run.

Extreme Pressure Resistance

Due to the lack of a center opening, blind flanges are structurally the strongest flange type. When forged from high-yield alloys like Inconel 718, they can easily manage severe hydrostatic pressure testing and continuous high-pressure service.

Need to Securely Blind a Line?

When requesting a quote, please specify the alloy grade (e.g., Hastelloy C-276), nominal pipe size (NPS), pressure class (e.g., 900#), and flange facing (e.g., RTJ). If you need a tapped blind, please provide the required NPT thread size.
