Surface Conditions & Tolerances
To optimize your machining setup and reduce material waste, we supply round bars in various delivery conditions tailored to your exact manufacturing process.
Centerless Ground (CG)
Precision ground to extremely tight OD tolerances (e.g., h9, h11) with a mirror-like finish. Mandatory for high-speed automated Swiss CNC lathes and manufacturing perfectly balanced pump shafts.
Turned & Polished (Peeled)
The rough outer mill scale is mechanically removed (peeled), providing a clean, smooth surface free of surface defects. The ideal starting point for standard CNC turning and milling operations.
Cold Drawn
Pulled through a die at room temperature. This process significantly increases the yield strength of the material and provides excellent dimensional accuracy for smaller diameter rods (typically under 2 inches).
Hot Rolled (Black Bar)
Supplied in the "as-rolled" condition with mill scale intact. The most economical option, perfect for forging blanks or large components where the entire outer diameter will be heavily machined away.
