Inconel 601

Inconel 601 Heat Resistant Alloy

Inconel® 601

UNS N06601 | W.Nr. 2.4851 | Alloy 601

Inconel 601 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy with an addition of aluminum for outstanding resistance to high-temperature oxidation. It is particularly known for its ability to resist spalling oxide scales even under severe thermal cycling conditions.

  • Common Forms: Pipe, Tube, Plate, Sheet, Round Bar, Wire.
  • Key Feature: Outstanding oxidation resistance up to 2200°F (1200°C).
  • Special Property: Resistant to spalling during cyclic heating and cooling.
  • Structure: Metallurgically stable; resists carburization.
Why Choose Inconel 601?

Inconel 601 is the material of choice for the most demanding thermal processing equipment. While Inconel 600 is excellent for general heat resistance, the addition of Aluminum in 601 allows it to form a tightly adherent oxide scale that protects the material even when subjected to repeated heating and cooling cycles.

Cyclic Oxidation Resistance

The aluminum content ensures the protective oxide layer remains intact during thermal cycling, preventing the scaling and spalling that destroys lesser alloys.

High Mechanical Strength

Retains high tensile strength and ductility after long-term service exposure at elevated temperatures.

Carburization Resistance

Excellent resistance to carburization and carbonitriding conditions, making it ideal for heat treating baskets and fixtures.

Chemical Composition (%)
